About POIfriend

POIfriend is the point of interest community that connects people and the places important to them. POIfriend is a powerful, fun and easy-to-use website that lets you find, create, comment, rate, share, and use POI (Point of Interest) information with GPS or maps. It is 100% FREE for users and detailed personal information is not mandatory.

 

If you own a GPS-enabled device, you already know the value it provides in getting you places you want to go – most often by voice-driven turn-by-turn directions. However, most users agree that many standard POIs pre-loaded on your GPS device are either out-of-date, incorrect, missing, and not personally relevant.

POIfriend.com was launched in October 2007 by an ambitious team to put GPS users’ needs first – and create an environment where the community builds content from ‘bottom-up’ to benefit everyone.

Now you can filter POIfriend by geographical region. Just look for this new feature above the POI Group list. If you create POI Groups, you'll now notice that you can assign it to a region (sub-continent) in the world.

Try out the new 'POI EXPLORER'. Now you can visually navigate POIfriend's public points of interest around you - or any location you choose. Look at the left hand side of the site in the categories to find this great new feature.

ANNOUNCING NEW 'DIRECT' FEATURE
We've just made it easier for you to get POIs to your GPS! Now available for both TomTom & Garmin, we are using their latest software tools to allow for direct transfer of POIs to your GPS device. You can find this great new solution in the download area. Of course, all of the other great formats are still available too!
