New to Garmin

I had a Tom Tom for a few years and loved it but it finally died on me. I decided, after hearing a lot of good about garmin, to give it a try. I bought a Nuvi 255w and so far i like it. I miss some features of my Tom Tom but the maps and poi list is far better then my old Tom Tom. I only have 1 problem that I hope you guys can help with. I looked around on this site and others but could not find a solution. I can load custom POI files fine but if I go to update them or add more it moves all the POI I had into favorites and then loads the new. Even if I tell poiloader to delete my custome POI it still moves them into my favorites. Not sure if anyone else has had this problem.

Download the files to a folder/directory called POI files. Use Garmin not Garmin (direct). POILoader will load the CSV files to the CUstom POI area of your Garmin.
You have to manually delete each of the inccorrect POIs in your favorites.

That's what I do. I have a folder on my computer called POI. Then inside that folder ihave other folders for the different catacories and inside that I have the csv file. I use POIloader but if all I want to do is update the ones on there it moves all my poi to favorites and then reloads the new ones into the custom POI section. I reload all of them everytime reguardless if there is an update for it or not.

I have a 255W as well, but I don't seem to have this problem. It sounds like we follow the same procedure of reuploading all POIs every time (Garmin automatically deletes all previous POI). I'll check more carefully tonight to see if my favorites have been modified without my knowledge.

I just wanted to confirm, my favorites have not been changed. The custom POI update works fine for me... not sure why it would be different for you? Have you downloaded the latest firmware and POI loader software?
